There are several options for installing Git on macOS. Note that any non-source distributions are provided by third parties, and may not be up to date with the latest source release.
Homebrew
Install homebrew if you don't already have it, then:$ brew install git
Xcode
Apple ships a binary package of Git with Xcode.
Git Mac Os X Downloads
Visit the official page of git downloads. Choose the download option for Mac OS X. The installer file will download to your system. Follow the prompts, choose the required installer option. Setup Mac OS X I've done the same process every couple years since 2013 (Mountain Lion, Mavericks, High Sierra, Catalina) and I updated the Gist each time I've done it. I kinda regret for not using something like Boxen (or anything similar) to automate the process, but TBH I only actually needed to these steps once every couple years.
